Claude Stanley Fullam was born 1900 in Hornsea. He was baptised the 14 Jan 1900 and was the youngest son of Alfred and Mary Ann Fullam (nee Eloin). Alfred his father a furniture dealer was born in Canada and died in 1912
Claude served as an apprentice on the cargo ship Okement. Okement was a 4,349 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1915 by W. Pickersgill & Sons Ltd for James Westoll. She was sunk on 17 Feb 1917 by a torpedo fired by the German submarine U-64 approximately 140 nautical miles South-East by South of Malta. She was en route from Malta to an unknown destination with coal and a general cargo. Claude was one of the eleven crew who did not survive. He was 17 years old. He is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial for mercantile mariners
