George was born in 1889 the son of George and Mary Rispin, George was a tanners labourer. At the age of 19 he married Alice Banks who was born in Stockton on Tees; George gave his occupation as painter. In 1911 George and Alice and two of George’s brothers Ernest and James,were living together in St Nicholas Road, Beverley.
In Nov 1912 George and Alice emigrated to Canada, along with their son George Ernest. On the passenger list George again gave his occupation as painter.
George enlisted to serve with the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force in Oct 1915, and saw action in France with the 24th Battalion of the Canadian Contingent, as is evidenced by his photograph and this information appearing in the Beverley Guardian in Aug 1916.
No further details regarding George have been found, so it is not known whether George and Alice stayed in Canada after the war nor if they had any more children.
