Alfred Richardson was born on 30 Mar 1879 in Beverley, the son of Elizabeth and William Richardson, he was baptized on 29 Apr 1879 at Beverley Minster. Alfred had six sisters and one brother. In 1904 he married Martha Russell at St Marks, Hull, they had five children, William, Albert, Violet, John and Minnie.
Alfred enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment in 1916. He was seriously wounded in 1917 whilst serving in France and was transferred to Withernsea, he was medically discharged from the army in 1919. He was awarded the Victory and British medals.
Alfred died in Hull in 1939 at the age of 59. Martha died in 1965.
