A photograph of Harry Richardson, taken in 1912 in Australia, when Harry was 16 years of age, wearing the uniform of an Australian Cadet, with the notation 'Mechanical Transport, A.S.C.' appeared in the Beverley Guardian dated 4 Dec 1915, but no evidence of his having served in WW1 has been found.

Harry was born in 1895 in Beverley, the son of Fred Richardson and his wife Martha Ann (nee Dalby). In 1909, his parents, Harry, and his younger sister, Olive, emigrated to Australia where his second sister, Gladys May, was born in 1910. The family returned to England in May 1912.

On 20 Sep 1928 Harry married Mabel Ellerington, daughter of Frederick, of Hengate, Beverley. Harry and Mabel had three daughters, Barbara born 1929 in Barnsley, Kathleen born 1931 in Huddersfield, and Winifred born 1934 in Huddersfield. The 1939 Register shows Harry and Mabel residing at 30 Somerset Road, Huddersfield, Harry was an omnibus traffic inspector.

Harry died in Huddersfield, aged 57, in 1953.
