Robert Arthur Pool was born the 10 Mar 1891, the son of Robert and Annie Pool, along with his sisters Martha and Annie, the family lived in Lairgate, Beverley.
Robert enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps serving in France from May 1916 to Jan 1917 before being transferred to the 9th Battalion of the London Regiment as Rifleman 395611. He was awarded the British War and Victory Medals.
Robert married Margaret Gomersall in 1922 and their son Roy was born on 25 Jul 1923. By 1939 the family were living at the East Riding Mental Hospital where Robert was a mental nurse and Roy was a junior clerk.
Robert died in 1962 and was buried at Queensgate Cemetery, Beverley on 24 Jul 1962.
