William Henry Philpot was born in Beverley in 1897, to William Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Philpot, he had six sisters and one younger brother, all born in Beverley. The family lived on North Parade, Wilbert Lane and then on Minstermoorgate.
William appears in the uniform of the East Yorkshire Regiment in Green`s Almanack in 1916 and again when he is reported wounded in 1917. He served in the 3rd Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment and in the Machine Gun Corp. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War medal.
In 1926 William married Alice Ruby Benson from Girlington, West Yorkshire. William Henry Philpot death is registered in Bradford in 1987.
