George Minns was born on 21 Nov 1892 in Beverley. He was the third of seven children. He worked at the Overton Rope works in Beverley.

He was mentioned in the Beverley Guardian 7 Oct 1916 “Private George Minns of 84 Beaver Road, Beverley was wounded on 10 Sep, and is now in Hospital in Lincoln’. The Yorkshire regiment was part of the 4th Army at the Battle of Ginchy which started on the 9 Sep 1916, there were a lot of casualities, it is probable that William was part of that Battle. He received the British and Victory Medals.

He married Esther Barker on 28 Feb 1920, they had two children, Kenneth and Sheila. The 1939 Register shows him living at 77 Beaver Road. He died in 1954, and was interred in Queensgate Cemetery the 23 Feb 1954.
