Alfred Mark Jackson was born on 6 Aug 1899. His parents were Alfred Amos Jackson, born 1872 in Hull, and Annie Jackson (nee Dove) born 1877 in Beverley. His father was a Hull Police Constable. Alfred was baptised the 23 Aug 1899 at Newington in Hull. In 1901 the family lived at 41 Cecil Grove, Edinburgh Street, Hull. In 1911 the family lived at 97 South Parade, Hull. Alfred became a chemists apprentice when he left school. He worked for Boots the Chemist, King Edward Street, Hull.

Alfred joined the Army on 8 Jul 1915 aged only sixteen, he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps, serving in Salonika from Nov 1915 to Nov 1916. He contracted malaria in France in Jul 1918 to 1919 and was admitted to hospital several times. He was discharged from the Army the 22 Jul 1919

Alfred married Ellen Capes in 1930 in Hull. She was born in 1909 and died in 1954, in Hull. In 1939 Alfred lived at 168 Sharp Street, Hull and was a chemist shop assistant at Boots the Chemist. Alfred Mark Jackson died in 1956 aged 57 years.
