Description	Contains bishops' transcripts for many of the parishes within the East Riding Archdeaconry where the earliest original registers have not survived as well as parishes outside the Archdeaconry but within the administrative East Riding of Yorkshire. The films also include some parishes in other parts of Yorkshire which occur on the same reels of film as local parishes e.g. Ackworth, Adwick. The general dates covered are c.1600-1880s but there are many gaps in the early years and there are no marriages after 1837. The bishops' transcripts available for each parish are listed in the order in which they appear on the film. This is not always in strict chronological order and so the last date listed is not always the date of the latest transcript. The original bishops' transcripts are held at the Borthwick Institute, York.
