TitleWithin the pale, the story of Sheriff Hutton park
Date2005
DescriptionA comprehensive historical account of Sheriff Hutton park.
AbstractSheriff Hutton is known for the remains of its castle but there is also a medieval deer park below the castle which provided food for the entertaining. The Institute's project started in 2003 with the object of creating a pictorial map of the park pale, the boundary which kept the deer in and the predators out. But with extra financial grant the project's remit expanded and the results have been published in this book.
