Title | An Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire |
Date | 1997 |
Description | A reassessment of the evidence for an Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery, which was partially excavated in 1913 and 1982. An appendix details the discover yof Roman features in 1995 to the south of the cemetery. |
Abstract | In total 18 burials have been recorded on the site. An analysis of the grave goods suggest that all but the unaccompanied burials were female. The main period of use was from the mid to late 6th century. The artefacts suggest these graves represent the lower end of the social scale. |
