TitleYorkshire and the Gododdin poem
Date1996
AbstractThe Gododdin poem consists of a series of elegies commemorating warriors from the kingdom of Gododdin in south-east Scotland supposedly composed in the late 6th or early 7th centuries. Although the poem mainly honours warriors from the kingdom of Gododdin it does contain material relvant to Yorkshire. In particular it seems to mention Catterick and the kingdoms of Deira and Elmet located in Yorkshire.
