AdminHistory | Geoffrey Simmons was born in Hull in 1928 and first became interested in airplanes in 1938-1939. He joined Blackburn Aircraft in 1945 and spent most of his working life as a senior design engineer before taking early retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Airfield Research Group and the International Cross and Cockade Society. He wrote 'Strong Foundations, Driffield's Aerodrome from 1917 to 2000' with Barry Abraham (Hutton, 2001) and 'East Riding Airfields 1915-1920' (2010) as well as numerous articles for various magazines.
