TitleLetter from Thomas Grimston, Kilnwick, to Duke of Leeds
Date8 Jun 1794
DescriptionRelating to a request made to the Duke to rectify mistake in his commission (has been gazetted for Filey Bay instead of Holderness). Also does not think there will be much difficulty in raising troops for the cavalry to be stationed in the Holderness area. Asks for leniency in exercising of infantry, especially in winter and harvest. Committee wish two trumpeters instead of kettle drummers. Mr Mortimer to be recommended as a subaltern officer in cavalry. Hopes government will assist in procuring non commissioned officers with cavalry experience and say whether they will have daily pay.
