DescriptionJudith Richardson of Howden, widow and relict of John Richardson, Howden, watchmaker, declares she is aged 80 years, her maiden name was Judith Thompson and she was born at Bubwith, where she lived until 10 years after her marriage. Her marriage to John Richardson took place about 56 years ago and 10 years later they moved to Howden. She was well acquainted with John Smith of Asselby until his death in Oct 1862. She also knew his wife Sarah Smith, whose maiden name was Johnson, who was a cousin of George Stephenson who died in 1831. The marriage of John Smith and Sarah Johnson took place at Bubwith, and Judith Richardson was a bridesmaid. Hannah Smith was their only child, who was born at Selby in 1814. She married Edward Palmer of Howden, joiner, who died in 1846.
