Description | Produced by Robert H Scaife of York. The following is from information given by a researcher who believes the handwriting to be Robert H Scaife's. Although three copies exist at The Yorkshire Archaeological Society, Leeds, and one at York City Library, it is thought this is the most useful as it is more lengthy and provides a compendium of, and cites more, sources. Scaife's research was used in Clement R Markham's genealogical account of the family in the journal 'The Herald and Genealogist' where his corrections to Markham's work were published (Vol. VII). This book was previously part of the main printed Champney collection under reference CH/YW/B/FAI (CH/988). It includes Fairfax family trees and a pedigree towwards the back of the volume. Also includes a family tree for Fairfax of Steeton and Newton Lyme and covers the 15th to the 19th centuries, notes from visitation books, extracts from parish registers, monumental inscriptions. Includes information on Walton, extracts of wills. |
