Description | Containing slides numbered: 149) The pageant of Beverley's History was organised and filmed by Mr Ernest Symmons, proprietor of the 'Picture Playhouse'. A large proportion of the inhabitants of the town took part in this project. The pageant assembled itself in the gardens of St Mary's Manor, at that time the residence of Mr Phillip Hodgson, and stretched back to Manor Road. This slide shows the Victorian ladies and gentleman. 150) The pageant proceeds through the Bar, up New Walk, turned up Norfolk Street, crossed part of the Westwood and came back into the town, through the shopping centre and back to St Mary's Manor. This slide shows the Tudor section, celebrating the visit of King Henry VIII and Katherine Howard to the town. On the left of the photograph, the old gentleman with the white beard, large hat carrying a flag, is the artist Fred Elwell. 151) The Medieval guilds were represented by a group of townsfolk.
