Includes references to being ordered down to the Hawk as they expect the East country Fleet every day; his men having been mustered in the presence of Cap[tain] Wilkinson; having a small dogger brought in their Port of Hull by Capt[ain] Lynn Commander of His Maj[e]st[y]'s Ship Allorough a twenty gun ship; the Badger sloop of war now at Hull; the Honourable Rob[er]t Boyd Commander having been preferred to a forty gun ship so the sloop wants a Commander; if the Earl of Winchelsea would favour Ryder with that or any other sloop he would be able to convince his friends that he he wants ne[i]therCourage, Conduct or Resolution to face the enemy
