TitleLetter to John Grimston at Kilnwick by Todds waggon to Beverley w[i]th 4 casks directed as above from N Maister at Hull
Date16 Jun 1757
DescriptionIncludes references to a political letter the contents of which he cannot congratulate Grimston upon; the affair at Calcutta being very bad and having proceeded in some measure from the imprudence of their people; Crowles supposed death; some people saying he is better and has got back to Winsor; Harry being well again but not having fixed a date for his return; Mr and Mrs Shairp and Miss Maister coming down with him; Maister's Cooper having packed 13 dozen Mountain instead of 10 dozen; not knowing of anyone who wants Grimston's money on mortgage; cash being plentiful and Fraser having written that gentlemen who used to pay 5 per cent for discounting their notes can now have it done for 4 which has meant that Maister cannot afford 4 for Grimston's as the 1per cent difference would have been the commission for Fraser and Maister for the trouble and hazard of discounting notes, therefore offering 3 per cent. Includes an account for 13 dozen wine and 4 casks
