'Archery in Hull and Beverley during the 19th century, with notes on the origin and progress of the sport' by Arthur Credland, an account of archery in Beverley whose first recorded mention is in 1841 with the Beverley archers who held their annual general meeting at the White Horse, Hengate. The earliest record of an archery society in Hull is of a body called the Kingston Garrison Archers founded in 1828.
'Kiplingcotes- the oldest horse race in England: fact or fiction' by Sue Neave,. The Kiplingcotes Derby is run annually on the third Thursday in March on a four mile course across the Yorkshire Wolds . The founding date is sometimes given as 1519 although there is no documentary evidence to support these claims.
