AdminHistoryDrypool Engineering Company was founded in Hull in Dec 1915 as a general engineering works. The Company became involved in ship repairs and acquired two dry docks on the River Hull. In 1920 a new firm Drypool Engineering and Dry Docks Company was established and took over Drypool Engineering Company. Another dry dock was eventually acquired in 1955 and in 1958 ships began to be built in these dry docks. The Drypool Engineering and Dry Docks Company became the Drypool Group and in 1968 took over Cochrane's shipyard in Selby. In 1973 C D Holmes' Beverley shipyard was taken over by Drypool. In 1975-1976 the Group failed and the Selby yard was sold, then in late 1976 the Beverley yard was also sold. In February 1977 the Company went into liquidation.
