Description
Says he has 'had another smashing battle' with the Sikh army but the British have suffered heavy losses. They are now about 3 miles from Ferozepoh [Ferozeshah] and ready to cross the river. Says the enemy are most determined. The battle lasted six and a half hours and he does not anticipate any more fighting. The Governor-general is meeting with Rajah Golab Sing [Gulab Singh] who is at Lahore with 30,000 men and 155 guns.
