| Description | These records were deposited in a folder with a typed list and mostly in date order. Although the order of these records has not been altered, as this list may reflect the original order of the records, in places, the structure has been altered slightly to represent the nature of a document and its relationship with other documents more clearly. For example, in the first record, the Charges were allocated Folio I, document number 1, number in series (1), Sir Walter Rudston's answers were allocated Folio I, document number 2, number in series (2). The depositions were allocated Folio III, document no. 6, number in series 6. The Charges, Answers and Depositions are actually part of the same document as the original consecutive numbering of pages shows this being numbered from 1 to 14 so it has been allocated one reference number. DDCR/5/1/85 was not originally part of this series but because it is related to the payment of the loan, it has been listed here. Some of the letters were dated according to the Julian calendar when 1 March was New Year's Day, so a letter dated February 1650 actually means February 1651. For consistency the dates have been modernised. |
