Whereas Jane Appleton died 30 April 1881 and her will dates 1 April 1876 and that Trevor Wheler Calverley-Rudston and John Downs are trustees and executors and mentions legacies: to her brother, Ralph Jackson Harland, to her niece, Jane Harland, £100; £400 invested to pay for her granddaughter's education, Annie Matilda Appleton, until 21 years old; two copyhold cottages at Cottingham where Frederick Appleton is tenant (with further information on monies); the deed releases the trustees from any further claims, actions and proceedings.
