According to the 1911 England census, Leslie Hulse was born 1896 in Nottingham, the son of Henry and Emily Hulse. The 1901 census records Leslie’s father, Henry was born in Arnold, Nottingham and was aged 67; the same census shows Emily was born in Hornsea and was aged 53. Their address was given as Alexandra Road, Hornsea. Leslie had 3 siblings, Edith born 1884, Kathleen M born 1887 and William Oscar Montgomery born 1889. Leslie married Ida W Harrison in 1923. Leslie enlisted in France on 14 Jan 1917 as a private with the East Yorkshire regiment.. He then became a Lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment and later 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Divisional Cyclists Regiment. He received the Victory and British medal on 15 Nov 1922.
Leslie died aged 71 in June 1967.
