Cyril George Foster was born in Beverley the 20 Jul 1895, the eldest son of Frederick William, a fruit merchant, and Ada Foster (nee Glossip) of Flemingate.
When Cyril joined the Royal Navy on 7 Apr 1915 he was a lorry driver. He served on HMS Victory II, HMS Druid, HMS Dido and HMS Caradoc. He was discharged from HMS Victory II on 23 Jun 1920.
In 1924, Cyril married Catherine Simpson, they moved to Hull and had two children, Ada and Frederick. Cyril became a bus driver.
Cyril died in Beverley the 17 Jun 1962 and was buried at Queensgate cemetery the 21 Jun 1962, he was 66 years old. Catherine died in 1985 aged 82.
