Henry Reginald Falgate was born in Hutton Cranswick on 4 Jan 1897. His father was Alfred Falgate and his mother was Mary Falgate. His father was a gamekeeper and moved around Yorkshire with his job. His siblings, Herbert William and Mildred A were born in Beverley and his younger siblings, Emmeline Mary and Alfred Harold were born on Brockfield, York. He also had a younger sister, Eleanor Doris who was born in 1902. By 1911 the family had moved to Eske, just outside Beverley.

Henry enrolled in the 21st Battalion Royal Rifle Brigade (yeoman division). The 21st Battalion was formed in Sep 1915 from volunteers from the farming communities of Yorkshire, Northumberland and Durham. They did their training at Dunscombe Park, York. He landed in France on 4 May 1916 and was wounded in action on Dec 1916.

After the war he married Winifred Amy Guyll on the 29 Sep 1928 in the church in Wath, North Yorkshire. He was 30 and his wife was 25. They had two sons, Roy born 1930 and David H born 1937.

Henry died in Claro aged 82 in 1979
