Reginald James Davis was born in Beverley in 1897, the son of James and Mary (nee Hewitt) Davis. Reginald was a cowman when he enlisted as Driver 143272 in the Royal Field Artillery in Apr 1916. At the time he was living at 15 Chatham Ave, Manvers St, Newland Avenue, Hull, with his mother, his father having passed away. He served in Egypt and France and with the Army of The Rhine in Germany.

After the war Reginald married Alice Garsides in 1921, going on to have several children and, by 1939, they were living in Burstwick. Reginald died in Hull at the age of 66 in 1963.

For his part in the war Reginald James Davis was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
