Arthur Percy Dove was born in Beverley 16 Jun 1896 and baptized at St Nicholas Church 7 Oct 1899. He was the son of George and Alice Matilda Dove (nee Blowman). George worked as a general labourer at the Water Works. Arthur was a draper's apprentice to Mr Markill of Beverley before war broke out and according to the 1939 register he was a drapery salesman. In 1921 Arthur married Florence May Smith in Hull. They had one child, Jack Caleb Dove in 1921. Florence died in 1973 age 78.

Arthur was a member of the gun section of the 6th Battalion of the East Yorkshire regiment and according to the Beverley Guardian 18 Nov 1916 he was wounded in the ankle. He received the Victory and British medal.

Arthur Percy Dove died 17 Dec 1975 aged 79 and his ashes are in a family grave at Queensgate Cemetery, Beverley.
