Frank was born in Hull the 18 Aug 1889 and baptised at St James’ church on 11 Sep 1889, he was one of two children born to Frank Creighton born 1853 in Newport, isel of Wight and his wife Ellen, born in Brandesburton in 1859. Frank senior spent sometime in the local workhouse but by 1881 was married and living in Hedon, working as a stableman and groom.

The family lived at Willow Grove and later Clifton Terrace in Hull. Frank’s father was employed as an “electric car operator, he died in 1901 and the family moved to Beverley. Frank’s sister, Fanny, died in Beverley in 1905, aged 10. Frank's mother Ellen had a confectionery shop at 19 Wood Lane, Beverley though the family resided at 51 North Bar Within. Frank became a stonemason and was unmarried.

Frank served as a private in the 1st/7th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. As part of 149th Brigade and 50th Division they were involved in the Second Battle of Passchendaele, near to Ypres in Belgium, from 26 Oct 1917 to the 10 Nov 1917. On the 26th of October at 05.50am the 149th Brigade attacked the German lines on higher ground and in wet and muddy conditions. They were forced back by machine gun fire and persistent sniping. Frank received unspecified wounds and died on the 27 Oct 1917 aged 28 and is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery in Belgium.

He was awarded the War and Victory medals. He is commemorated on the Hengate Memorial. Frank’s widowed mother died in Beverley in 1946.
