Charles William Wilson was born in North Ferriby the 3 Mar 1882, the son of Joseph Ashton Wilson, carrier, and Janet Barton, nee McWilliam. By 1901 Charles was lodging at 5 Trinity Terrace, Grovehill Road, Beverley and was employed as a groom. He married Agnes Coupland of Ladygate, Beverley, on 26 Apr 1905 at St Mary's Church. Charles and Agnes had four children, Albert born 29 Jan 1906; Frank who died just before his first birthday, was born in Swanland in 1910; Janet Evelyn born 3 Mar 1912 and Charles born 9 Dec 1913. While originally working with horses Charles progressed to motor transport and by 1911 he was employed as a chauffeur, the family were living at 10 Regent Street, Beverley.

Charles served as a Private in the Mechanical Transport Section of the Army Service Corps. Charles survived the war and returned home to his wife and family in Beverley. His brother was not so lucky, on the 7 May 1915, the world was shocked by the news of the sinking of RMS Lusitania, en route from New York to Liverpool, she was torpedoed by a German U-boat off the coast of Kinsale, Ireland with the loss of over 1,100 lives. Amongst those killed was James Robert Wilson, an on-board First Class waiter, the eldest son of Joseph and Janet Wilson.

In 1939 Charles was working as a motor driver, as well as being in the ARP.

Charles William Wilson of 10 Regent Street, Beverley died in 1942, aged 60 and was buried on 21 Mar 1942 in Queensgate Cemetery, Beverley. Agnes died in 1971 aged 88.
