John Henry Wright was born 21 Sep 1896 in Hull, the son of John Henry and Penfold Wright (nee Wood). In 1911 the family were living in Swinemoor Lane, Beverley and John aged 14 was working in the shipyard as a labourer.
John enlisted with the 7th Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment, he reached the rank of corporal and was awarded the British and Victory medals.
In 1919 he married Charlotte Ann Crawford at Bridlington Promenade Methodist Church. The couple moved to Miami, Florida on 23 Jan 1920. John became a naturalized citizen of the US on 11 Aug 1920. The couple had two children John Henry and Lily. In 1940 the family were still in Miami, and John was working as a labourer in the building trade.
John died in 1958, is buried at Southern Memorial Park, Florida. His wife Charlotte died in 1972
