Harold Willison was born in Beverley in Jun 1891, the son of Stephen and Betsey Willison (nee) Robinson. He attended Minster Moorgate Infants and Minster Boys School before enlisting in the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment on 13 Feb 1911. He married Ada Godson at Beverley Minster on 24 Apr 1926, they had two children, Bernard born 1926 and Betty born 1930.
Harold embarked for France on 15 Jan 1915 and remained there throughout the war, being honourably discharged on 3 Apr 1919 having been injured in action. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He was also awarded the Silver Badge denoting that he had been injured during the conflict.
Harold was killed by a motor boat on the River Hull in May 1938 and was buried at Queensgate Cemetery, Beverley on 19 May 1938.
