Edgar Wilmer Walker was born in Scarborough the 3 Aug 1875, the son of Admiral Charles Francis and Edith Walker (nee Duncombe), brother of Philip Walker. He was educated at Eton and Balliol College and qualified as a barrister in the early 1900's. He married Charlotte Rankin Maule in Edinburgh on 17 Apr 1906. They had a son Francis Robert in 1910 and they were living in London in 1911.

Edgar joined the 3rd Battalion East Riding Regiment as a reservist in 1905 and was a Captain at the start of the war. He was posted to the front in Aug 1914 where he served in the Expeditionary Forces. Edgar was killed 27 Oct 1914 by a shrapnel shell at Armentieres, France. He was awarded posthumously the British war medal and 14 Star. In his will he left effects totally £3413 13s 11d to his wife. He is remembered at Ration Farm military Cemetery La Chapelle D'Armentieres where he was believed to have been buried.
