Edward Wilson was born in Lockington in 1887 and baptised at Lockington parish church on 26 Dec 1887, the son of John Robinson and Sarah Ann Wilson (nee Ireland), the family lived at South Dalton. In 1911 he was employed as a gardener. On 1 Mar 1916 Edward married Mary Ellen Lancaster in Beverley and the family lived in George and Dragon Yard, Eastgate, Beverley. They had three children.

On 6 Mar 1916 Edward enlisted with the Northumberland Fusiliers 1st/5th Battalion and was posted to Boulogne in July. He was wounded in the arm whilst serving in Rouen in Oct 1917 and was eventually discharged to the Army Reserve Corps with gas poisoning in Jan 1918. He was awarded the British and Victory medals

Edward died on 22 May 1920 and was buried in South Dalton churchyard. He is remembered on the war memorial in the church.
