Lott Tomlinson was born in Beverley the 19 Nov 1896 and baptised the 11 Dec 1896 at St Mary’s Church, the son of Emily Tomlinson, born in Tickton in 1879 and a domestic servant. Lott was brought up in the Lund area, his mother working as a servant on the Cocks’ farm in the village in 1901. He attended the primary school in the village. He later worked on the farm as a labourer, by 1914 he was a waggoner in New Tickton. His mother married Stephen William Palmer of New Tickton in late 1908 and they had two children. Lott himself was married at Beverley Registry Office on 28 Nov 1916 when he was in the army. His wife was Florence May Williamson of 12 Trinity Grove in Beverley, born in 1899. Lott and Florence had three children.
Lott attested in Beverley on 11 Dec 1915 and was called up for service on 3 Jul 1916. He was in the UK until 29 Mar 1918 and thereafter in France with the BEF until 2 Feb 1919. He left the army in Mar 1919. He was awarded the War and Victory Medals.
He died in Hull in early 1933 aged 36. Florence remarried in 1939.
