Charles Percy Biglin was born the 12 Jan 1873 in Hull and was baptized the 19 Feb 1873 at St Paul’s Church, Sculcoates, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Biglin (nee Rudston). In 1891 Charles was a copper smiths apprentice.
On 29 Apr 1895 Charles enlisted into the Royal Navy and he based at Chatham Dockyard in Kent. He was an engine room artificer. Charles married Agnes Annie Hodgson of Beckside Beverley at Beverley Minster on 25 Sep 1901. They moved to Gillingham, Kent and had two children, Agnes born 1906 and William born 1908.
Charles continued to serve in the Royal Navy during the war, and was serving on HMS Hogue when it was torpedoed on 22 Sep 1914 while on patrol in the North Sea. He survived the attack and served on HMS Proserpine from 1916 to 1918, based in Egypt. He was demobbed on 9 Feb 1919. He was awarded the 14/15star, Victory and British medals.
In 1939 the family were living in Spring Bank Hull and Charles was the licensee of the Eagle Hotel, Springbank, Hull. On 24 Dec 1941 Charles was knocked down and killed by a bus whilst crossing the road in Hull during the blackout. He was aged 68
