Thomas Sissons was born in Leconfield the 13 Apr 1899, the son of John and Ana Sissons (nee Hodgson). John was a bricklayers labourer and he married Ana in 1898. The family lived in Main Street, Leconfield. Thomas was baptised at Arram Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on 18 May 1899.
Thomas enlisted with the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers. He was captured uninjured during the Battle of Estaires on 10 Apr 1818 and was a prisoner of war at Friedrichfeld camp in Germany. He was disembodied from the army in 1919 and was awarded the Victory and British medals.
In 1939 he was living with his widowed mother, sister Ana and brother Alan in Leconfield. He was employed as groundsman and tractor driver. He was a special constable with the East Riding Constabulary. Thomas died in on 22 Dec 1976 at 16 Main Street Leconfield.
He is remembered on the memorial in Leconfield church.
