Kenneth Lambert born in 1887 was the second son of Frank Fitzroy and Emily Augusta Lambert (nee Harrison). Frank was in business as a seed and grain merchant. In 1891 Frank Lambert and his young family were living in North Bar Street, Beverley, at the time Frank and Emily had three boys, Guy aged 5, Kenneth aged 4, and Peter aged 3 months. In 1901 the family had moved to a large house called 'Langholm', New Walk, Beverley. Kenneth attended public school in Rugby and entered the Military Academy at Sandhurst in 1906 as a cadet. In the 1911 census he was serving in Hong Kong in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and at the outbreak of war was serving in Singapore.
The 1st Battalion arrived in England from Singapore in Nov 1914. Two months later they were in France and soon in the line. They took part in the 2nd Battle of Ypres which is where Kenneth was killed on 9 May 1915. He is buried in Oosttavernwood Cemetery, West Flanders, Belgium, (plot V111.LI). He was awarded all three campaign medals
