DescriptionThis series of staff records relates to individuals who either resigned from their post or were dismissed. Each envelope comprises a police candidate examination form and many contain letters of reference which often predate the date of appointment by a month or two, and a letter of resignation (which required one month's notice) or memo of dismissal where applicable. Some include other correspondence indicating the reasons for the individual's dismissal such as ill-health or unacceptable behaviour.
