Circumstances: this girl had been brought up by a woman since she was an infant and the woman lived with a man as his wife. The man was convicted at the mid-summer, York assizes and was sent to 18 months h[ard] l[abour] for a certain offence towards the child. She was sent to this home by Major Malcolm and the stipendiary magistrate until a home could be found for her with the grandmother at Leeds. During the time she was in this home the stipendiary magistrate kindly paid her a visit and was highly satisfied with the home
