Circumstances: this young woman was found destitute at midnight by PC Dalton who brought her to this home. She stated she had walked from York to Hull to try to get work, she also stated she was at Leeds the week previous and that her clothing had been stolen by a man she had engaged to carry them o the station, the man had been arrested and was awaiting trial and her clothing was detained by the police. The Leeds police were communicated with and they replied her statement was true and if she would go to Leeds they would provide a home for her until the case was heard, which they would have done at the outset but she refused to go into the home
