12 Jul 1883 absent from his beat from 11.20pm [on the] 11th inst to 2am on the 12th inst and neglect of duty in reporting himself [sic] when going off duty at 2am on the 12th inst, fined 1 days pay and severely reprimanded and cautioned by the Chief Constable
31 Jul 1883 being drunk and unfit for duty when on duty at 8.50pm [on the] 30th inst, brought into the Reserve Room by Inspector Kirkby from which he disappeared shortly afterwards and has not since been heard of, dismissed and [his] position declared vacant by the Watch Committee 15.8.83
