Offences and punishment:
5 Nov 1884 reported by Inspector Graham by [sic] being sat down on a doorstep whilst on duty at 2.45am on the 6th [sic] Nov 1884, severely reprimanded by the Chief Constable
26 Aug 1888 being worse for drink and unfit for duty when on duty at 10pm on the 25th inst, severely reprimanded and fined 2 days pay by the Chief Constable
9 Oct 1888 failing to report an occurance which took place on his beat, reprimanded and fined 5 shillings by the Chief Constable
27 Jan 1889 being sat down in the Park Keeper's hut (East Park) at 4pm when on duty, reprimanded by the Chief Constable
3 Apr 1889 neglecting to try any of the doors especially the lock up shops on his beat between 2.30 and 6am on the 3rd inst, severely reprimanded and fined 2 days pay by the Chief Constable
4 Apr 1889 insubordinate conduct on leaving the Chief Constable's office after being punished for the above offence also for making use of obscence language, suspended by the Chief Constable, to forfeit 5 days pay during the time of suspension [by order of the] Watch Committee
26 Jun 1889 complaint made by Susan Mumby that she was engaged by him as housekeeper that he got her in the family way and then turned her forcibly into the street on the 12th June 1889, no conviction but circumstances revealed in the hearing led the Committee to recommend his resignation which he tendered and was accepted - Watch Committee
