Offences and punishment: 30 Dec 1881 omitting to serve two summonses dated Dec 22nd and 23rd until Dec 27th and 28th the day prior to the hearing in each case, severely reprimanded by the Chief Constable 23 Jan 1882 omitting to serve a summons on the 20th January and not serving same until 5pm [on the] 21st January, reprimanded by the Chief Constable and removed from Court duty 2 Feb 1882 being absent from the 6am parade until 7am on the 2nd February 1882, fined 1 shilling and reprimanded by the Chief Constable 21 Jul 1882 being found by the Chief Constable drinking in the Vauxhall Tavern, Hessle Road, at 5.45pm [on the] 20th inst. when on duty, fined 1 shilling and sixpence and reprimanded by the Chief Constable 1 May 1883 being absent from duty from 8.45 to 11.45am [on the ] 1st inst, severely reprimanded and cautioned by the Deputy Chief Constable 2 May 1883 neglect of duty and disobediance of orders in not completing and furnishing a report of an inquiry on Saturday 30th April, and not furnishing the same until 9am on the 2nd May, removed from the Detective Department and cautioned as to future conduct by the Deputy Chief Constable, confirmed by the Watch Committee 28 Sep 1883 using threatening language towards PC 126 Elliott in the parade room at 9.45pm [on the] 26th inst also for using profane language towards him at the same time and place, severely reprimanded and cautioned by the Chief Constable 14 Jan 1884 being absent from his beat when on duty on the Humber Dock from 2.15 to 3.10am on the 13th inst, when found was asleep in a covered railway waggon with his helmet and beat lamp off and laid on some straw, reduced from Merit Class and deprived of his stripe for 3 months by the Watch Committee 30 Apr 1884 complained of for assaulting a man in the Hamburg Castle public house when on duty on the 22nd April also for being in the public house drinking soda water whilst on duty on the above date, fined 1 weeks pay by the Watch Committee, informed that if he came before the Watch Committee again and the charge [was] proved he would be dismissed 23 Dec 1885 absent from his beat from 1.25am to 1.55am on the 23rd December 1885 also for being insubordinate to Sergeant Lambert, fined 1 days pay by the Chief Constable 1 Feb 1886 being absent from his beat from 4 to 4.45pm on the 31st of January 1886 also for failing to report an occurance to the officer, fined 2 shillings and sixpence by the Chief Constable 3 Jul 1886 leaving his post in Albion Street at 11.15pm before being relieved whereby several windows were broken on the 2nd July 1886, severely reprimanded and fined 2 days pay by the Chief Constable 18 Apr 1887 speaking to his superior officer in a direspectful and improper manner on the 16th inst at 10.10pm, severely reprimanded and fined 1 days pay by the Chief Constable 1 Jun 1889 leaving the Borough without leave contrary to the memo [of] 5.1.88 18 Jan 1890 damaging his beat lamp and not reporting the same on Friday the 18th inst, fined 2 shillings and sixpence and [to] pay for damage 15 Aug 1891 loitering on his beat in Peel Street from 7.50 to 8.05pm and when found was gossiping with PC 143 who was off duty, reprimanded and fined 1 days pay by the Chief Constable 17 Aug 1891 speaking to a superior officer in an improper manner at 10.15am,
