Crimes and punishment: 5 Feb 1881 absent from his quarters at the Parliament Street Station during the night of the 4th February 1881, reprimanded and cautioned by [the] Chief Constable 3 Nov 1881 absent from his quarters from 12 midnight to 9.30am on the 3rd inst., fined 1 days pay and reprimanded by [the] Chief Constable 3 Feb 1882 reported by the Chief Constable for neglect of duty in failing to discover that a large box of American pork had been broken into and 15 shoulders of bacon abstracted therefrom on the Railway Dock, he, the Constable being on the beat from 6am to 10am [on] January 7th, the robbery being discerned by P.C.92 Bothwell, the Constable who relieved on that beat at 10.15am that day, reprimanded by [the] Chief Constable 21 Jul 1882 being absent from his beat and found drinking in the Golden Cross Hotel, Porter Street at 9.55pm [on the] 20th inst., fined 1 shilling and sixpence and reprimanded by [the] Chief Constable 28 Oct 1882 being absent from his quarters from 12 midnight on the 27th to 2.30am on the 28th inst., transferred to C Division by [the] Chief Constable
Rewards for good conduct: 15 Apr 1876 advanced from the 4th class @ 24 shillings to the 3rd class @ 25 shillings 13 Oct 1877 advanced from the 3rd class @ 25 shillings to the 2nd class @ 26 shillings 13 Oct 1879 advanced from the 2nd class @ 26 shillings to the 1st class @ 27 shillings
