Crimes and punishment: 3 May 1880 absent from the 9.45pm parade and when found was at home worse for drink, fined 1 days pay by Chief Constable 25 Aug 1880 drunk when in charge of a horse at 4.20pm [on the] 19th inst., fined 4 days pay by Watch Committee 13 Apr [1881] disobedience of orders of the Chief Constable in not parading for duty at 6pm 2nd inst. he, the Constable, having absconded from the Borough being subsequently apprehended on a warrent for which offence he was convicted by the Stipendiary Magistrate and fined 20 shillings and costs, dismissed the Force without pay by order of the Sub Watch Committee of the 13th Apr 1881
