Crimes and punishment:
5 Feb 1879 promoted to the rank of Sergeant, suspended 7th: reinstated 9th inst.
7 Feb 1880 drunk when off duty at 4.30pm also complained of by Mr Halfyard, fishmonger, for stealing two codlings (fish) from off the scale at his shop in Adelaide Street at 3.30pm, reduced from 2nd class Sergeant to Service class Constable, pay as Sergeant to 5th instant by order of [the] Watch Committee. Note the Committee acquitted the officer of any felonious intent in regard to the taking of the fish. Pay as Sergeant to 5th instant inclusive

Rewards for good conduct:
29 Mar 1871 advanced from the 4th class @ 20 shillings to the 3rd class @ 21 shillings
18 Jan 1874 advanced from the 2nd class @ 25 shillings to the 1st class @ 26 shillings
2 Dec 1874 advanced to the Merit class @ 29 shillings
5 Feb 1879 advanced to the rank of Sergeant @ 32 shillings
