3 Dec 1880 gross neglect of duty in failing to report that himself and P.C.102 Staveley had been called to a Warehouse in Lime Street (owned by one Henry Smith) by George Broadley on the complaint of the latter that the other occupier had arranged to set the premises on fire, certain inflammable material being found in the warehouse at the time which led to criminal proceedings being taken against the occupier, severely reprimanded and cautioned by order of [the] Watch Committee, 9th February 1881
