Description | Contains valuation books (registers of duties on land values) which were created by the Inland Revenue Valuation Office under the terms of the 1910 Finance Act. They are also commonly known as 'Domesday Books'. The hereditament numbers given in the valuation books relate to the valuation record sheet maps held at the Public Record Office. Valuation books for the following townships were not received: Arnold, Beverley St Mary, Fimber, Fridaythorpe, Long Riston, North Skirlaugh, Rowton and Willitoft. Books relating to Hull and Sculcoates have been transferred to Hull City Record Office. The valuation book relating to Towthorpe has been transferred to the North Yorkshire County Record Office, this Office also holds some volumes relating to East Riding townships now in North Yorkshire. |
